Limoncello Float Blog

Cocktail Floats – Sooo Summery!

Citrusy and slightly floral, bubbly and bright, this summer sipper blurs the line between a cocktail and a dessert. Perfect for the dog days of summer!

BE BRAVE and make this cocktail with a sparkling wine as I have, but if you want to reduce the alcohol content, you can substitute with ice-cold seltzer water instead. I prefer vodka to gin, so that’s what I use, but this will be a perfect gin cocktail too. Whatever you do, don’t skip the scoop of sorbet!

This recipe yields one drink, but is easily scalable. So, invite some friends over, open up that sparkling wine and enjoy cooling off with these drinks at the pool or on the patio.

Aaaahhhh! Happy Summer!

½ cup (4 oz) chilled, dry, sparkling wine

2 tablespoons (1 oz) vodka or gin

3 tablespoons (1½ oz) O&V Limoncello Vinegar *

1 tablespoon simple syrup (add more or less to taste)

¼ cup (1 scoop) lemon sorbet

Preparation

In an ice-filled cocktail shaker, stir together the vodka, vinegar, and simple syrup for 30 seconds till chilled and slightly diluted from the ice in the shaker.

Strain into a wine glass or a rocks glass. Top with the sparkling wine and the lemon sorbet. Serve with a spoon.

Active time 5 minutes Total Time: 5 minutes

Notes

* The Limoncello Vinegar adds a nice tang and citrusy flavor, certainly feel free to substitute with actual Limoncello liquor but remember that the alcohol content will be higher in the drink.

For a non-alcoholic version, substitute the white wine with seltzer water, eliminate the vodka/gin, and based on taste, add a little more Limoncello vinegar.
